About the MCSnet Scholarship

As one of Alberta’s largest rural internet providers, we believe students deserve to grow their education in technology. That’s why we started the MCSnet Scholarship program. Our local communities are at the heart of our success, and we want to invest in our young people’s future.

Each year, we offer four $1,000 local scholarships to graduating grade 12 students. To be eligible, you must be pursuing a post-secondary education in Computer Science or related studies, and you must reside in the MCSnet service area.

Scholarship Criteria

The scholarship is chosen by the MCSnet Scholarship Engagement Committee based on the following criteria:

  • Academic Marks: weighted 60%
  • Community Involvement: weighted 40%
  • Tie-Breaking Criteria: Work experience or involvement in an initiative (may be technology-related) that has brought a positive impact to the community.

Submission Requirements

  • Official high school transcript of final marks
  • Reference letter from principal or guidance/career counsellor
  • Official confirmation of acceptance in a post-secondary institution
  • A short, typed essay (800-1,000 words) outlining your post-secondary education goals and your career intentions. Additionally, include personal background, work experience, volunteer activities, and any other relevant accomplishments/activities.
