Dependable internet is not a luxury anymore. It is family movie night streaming without the spinning wheel, the kids gaming with friends two provinces over, a video call to a child working away, and a rural business reaching customers anywhere. It is a full house of phones, TVs, laptops, and cameras all running at once without anyone shouting to get off the internet.
MCSnet is built to carry all of it. Check what reaches your address and we will show you the speeds available where you live, then help you match them to how your household actually uses the internet.
Built in 1992 by the Andrew Lions Club with a tourism grant, the World’s Largest Mallard Duck is a one-tonne, green-headed drake with a 7-metre wingspan, standing in Lions Club Park in the village centre. It was raised to recognize the wetlands and lakes around Andrew and the large mallard breeding populations they support, and it has since joined Alberta’s “Giants of the Prairies” collection of roadside attractions.
Andrew was incorporated in 1930 and named for early settler Andrew Whitford. Its most famous resident, Ed Stelmach, became Alberta’s 13th premier in 2006, and the village named its main street, Ed Stelmach Avenue, in his honour.
The Andrew Museum, housed in the village’s old train station, and Centennial Park’s flower gardens and gazebo give the village its character, and the Andrew Garlic Festival draws a crowd to the Community Centre every October with a farmers’ market and scarecrow contest. The Andrew Farmers’ Market runs Saturday afternoons from spring through fall.
Keeping a village like this connected means towers, not just promises. MCSnet crews work on infrastructure right in Andrew to keep the network reliable for the farms and homes around it.
MCSnet provides free public Wi-Fi at the places where Andrew gathers: the Andrew Arena, the Community Centre, and the Lions Club. It is part of how we give back to the communities we connect, and you can see the full list on our hotspot partnerships page.
