MCSnet is building buried Fiber Optic cables to each building within select areas within Northeastern Alberta. Internet speeds will be up to 940 Mbps down and 940 Mbps up with the ability to provide up to 10 GB speeds in the future.
MCSnet has successfully completed Fiber-to-the-Home projects within the Hamlets of Mallaig, Fort Kent, Cherry Grove, and Thorhild, and select areas in the MD of Bonnyville.

Because your Fiber to the Home is not shared with your neighbours, your internet is fast through the entire day.
The fiber lines are buried underground and will not be affected by inclement weather.
Our MCSnet Team will be visiting each home and business owner to receive permission to trench fiber optic cables on your property. At this time, you can choose your Fiber Plan. Existing MCSnet customers do not need to sign a new contract.
During the 2025 construction season, MCSnet representatives will trench fiber optic cable on approved routes throughout select areas. Any ground disturbances will be remediated throughout the construction process. Please note that in the spring utility flags and ground paint will be used to mark the fiber route.
Once you are signed up for MCSnet Fiber services, or if you are already an MCSnet customer, we will contact you to install your new Fiber to the Home services.

As an existing MCSnet customer, you do not need to sign up for services. However, we do need to visit you in person at your property to create the fiber drop form drawing and have it signed by you for permission to build on your property.
We will be visiting each property to create the fiber drop form drawing and have it signed by you for permission to build on your property. At that time, you can sign up for MCSnet services with our agent.
You do not need to sign up for MCSnet services, but this is likely the only time we will be constructing the fiber lines to each property. It is best to have the fiber lines trenched to your home, even if you don’t plan to activate services. By having the fiber line trenched to your home, it increases the value of your home and provides the opportunity for Fiber services in the future.
If you received a letter in the mail from MCSnet regarding upcoming Fiber to the Home construction in your community, please fill out the Fiber Authorization Form, so that we can contact you to arrange a time for a Fiber Drop Agreement form to be completed. You do not need to commit to MCSnet Fiber services at this time, but we highly recommend agreeing to the complimentary fiber drop on your property.
