4-H Alberta Agri-Tale Video Contest Tips and Tricks

  1. Use your cell phone or borrow your parents’ phone to shoot your videos.
  2. Shoot in vertical mode; this is how most people watch videos on their phones.
  3. Don’t zoom. Stand as close to your subject as possible.
  4. Use natural light as much as possible. Make sure you can see the subject you are filming. You may need to use a portable light source.
  5. Tell us your story. We want to learn what you do for your 4-H project. If you don’t feel comfortable speaking, you can use captions on your video.
  1. Tell your story with multiple videos. Instead of one long video, make a series of 30-60 second videos.
  2. Use the video features on Instagram/Facebook or use a video editing app so that you can add fun features to your video, like captions, stickers, music, etc. Remember to save/download your video if using Instagram/Facebook.
  3. Have fun! We want to learn more about your projects and we want you to have fun doing it. Good luck!
