What a Good Connection Actually Gets You

Dependable internet is not a luxury anymore. It is family movie night streaming without the spinning wheel, the kids gaming with friends two provinces over, a video call to a child working away, and a rural business reaching customers anywhere. It is a full house of phones, TVs, laptops, and cameras all running at once without anyone shouting to get off the internet.

MCSnet is built to carry all of it. Check what reaches your address and we will show you the speeds available where you live, then help you match them to how your household actually uses the internet.

Alberta’s Lakeland, One Provincial Park at a Time

Thunder Lake Provincial Park sits on the lake’s north-western shore, about 20 kilometres west of Barrhead, established January 28, 1958 on 208 hectares. The lake itself covers 7.03 square kilometres with a maximum depth of 6.1 metres, and the park’s 127 well-treed campsites, including 66 powered sites, fill up all summer with boaters, water-skiers, swimmers, and paddlers. Canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards are available to rent right on site, and anglers come for northern pike and yellow perch.

The small hamlet of Thunder Lake sits just south of the park on the lake’s eastern shore, unincorporated and governed by County of Barrhead Council.

Fiber Is Coming to the Lake

Thunder Lake is a named community in MCSnet’s current federally supported fiber expansion, the same 3,401-household build that covers Birch Cove, Nakamun Park, and Lac La Nonne, with construction scheduled to complete by March 2027. MCSnet already built transit fiber to the Thunder Lake hamlet in 2022 through a partnership with the County of Barrhead, and that backbone is now the foundation for bringing fiber all the way to the home.

Until fiber lights up, fixed wireless keeps cabins and cottages connected today. Follow the build here.
