St. Lina’s story starts with a trail: in 1856, a missionary party set out from Lac La Biche to cut a route south through what would become Sugden, Ste-Lina, and St-Vincent, opening a supply road that homesteaders later followed for a $10 land fee. The hamlet that grew up along it is quiet now, but the community still gathers the way it always has: at St. Lina Hall, at the Roman Catholic church, and around the St. Lina Ag Society, whose family dances raise money for causes like Ronald McDonald House. The St. Lina 4-H Beef Club keeps the next generation showing cattle under the St. Paul District banner.
