Dependable internet is not a luxury anymore. It is family movie night streaming without the spinning wheel, the kids gaming with friends two provinces over, a video call to a child working away, and a rural business reaching customers anywhere. It is a full house of phones, TVs, laptops, and cameras all running at once without anyone shouting to get off the internet.
MCSnet is built to carry all of it. Check what reaches your address and we will show you the speeds available where you live, then help you match them to how your household actually uses the internet.
Ryley was founded in 1909 as “Equity” and renamed the following year for George Urquhart Ryley, a Grand Trunk Pacific Railway land commissioner, incorporating as a village on April 2, 1910. It sits on Highway 14 about 85 kilometres from Edmonton and serves as the seat of Beaver County’s administrative office. At the 2021 Census, Ryley’s population grew to 484, making it the only municipality in Beaver County to grow that census cycle.
MCSnet’s fixed wireless network covers the village and the farms around it, the same connection people here already trust: our name is listed right on the village’s own website.
Ryley’s official “Services & Utilities” page lists MCSnet directly as one of the internet and telecom providers serving the village, alongside the national carriers. That is not a claim we are making about ourselves. It is how the Village of Ryley describes its own community’s options, and MCSnet is part of that list.
Ryley punches above its weight: Alberta’s only indoor swimming pool located in a village, a three-sheet indoor curling rink, a museum, a skate park, an outdoor rink, a community hall, and George’s Harness & Saddlery, a living-history harness and saddlery museum. Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 192 has served the community since 1947, supported for 50 years by the Ryley Ladies’ Auxiliary, whose book committee published the local history “Beaver Tales: History of Ryley & District” in 1979.
A community with that much going on deserves internet that keeps up with it, whether you are at the pool, the rink, or home on an acreage nearby.
MCSnet provides free public Wi-Fi at the places where Ryley gathers: the Ryley Royal Canadian Legion and the Ryley Pool. It is part of how we give back to the communities we connect, and you can see the full list on our hotspot partnerships page.
