What a Good Connection Actually Gets You

Dependable internet is not a luxury anymore. It is family movie night streaming without the spinning wheel, the kids gaming with friends two provinces over, a video call to a child working away, and a rural business reaching customers anywhere. It is a full house of phones, TVs, laptops, and cameras all running at once without anyone shouting to get off the internet.

MCSnet is built to carry all of it. Check what reaches your address and we will show you the speeds available where you live, then help you match them to how your household actually uses the internet.

Fiber Came Here Early

When people say hamlets get left behind on internet, Mallaig is our counterexample. In 2019 MCSnet trenched fiber to the home here, in Fort Kent, and in Cherry Grove, self-funded, years before government broadband programs caught up. If you live in Mallaig, gigabit-capable fiber is not a promise on a map. It has been in the ground for years.

A railway community founded in 1928 and named by a homesick Scot after Mallaig, Scotland, the hamlet now has one of the most modern connections in rural Alberta. The old rail line itself became the Iron Horse Trail, which runs right through town.

Small Hamlet, Full Calendar

Mallaig runs deeper than its population suggests: École Mallaig Community School teaches about 246 students from kindergarten to grade 12, and the Mallaig & District Ag & Recreational Association keeps the arena, curling rink, community hall, ball diamonds, and campground humming. In summer, the Mallaig Provincial Recreation Area puts a sandy beach, playground, and volleyball court on the shore of Vincent Lake, where the perch, pike, and walleye live.

Fiber makes the whole calendar easier: game film for the rink, streaming for the classroom, and a connection at home that does not blink when everyone is on it.
