What a Good Connection Actually Gets You

Dependable internet is not a luxury anymore. It is family movie night streaming without the spinning wheel, the kids gaming with friends two provinces over, a video call to a child working away, and a rural business reaching customers anywhere. It is a full house of phones, TVs, laptops, and cameras all running at once without anyone shouting to get off the internet.

MCSnet is built to carry all of it. Check what reaches your address and we will show you the speeds available where you live, then help you match them to how your household actually uses the internet.

Gigabit-Capable Fiber, Built for Chipman

Chipman is one of the communities named in MCSnet’s Universal Broadband Fund and Alberta Broadband Fund project, a combined build worth more than $31 million reaching over 34 communities across the region. Construction is underway now, with completion required by March 2027. Once it lands, Chipman households will have access to gigabit-capable fiber to the home, the same technology MCSnet self-funded in Mallaig back in 2019.

In the meantime, MCSnet’s fixed wireless network already covers the village and the farms around it, so there is no need to wait for fast, reliable internet.

A Small Village With a Full Calendar

Chipman was incorporated as a village in 1913, named for railroad official Clarence Campbell Chipman, and its roughly 275 residents keep the community centre busy. The Chipman Players Dinner Theatre performs at the National Hall each spring, the Chipman Car Crafters put on a Show and Shine every June, the Lions Club hosts a Harvest Dance in late October, and the Golden Seniors run monthly perogy suppers. On quiet weekends, the Edmonton Soaring Club still flies gliders out of the local airstrip.
