What a Good Connection Actually Gets You

Dependable internet is not a luxury anymore. It is family movie night streaming without the spinning wheel, the kids gaming with friends two provinces over, a video call to a child working away, and a rural business reaching customers anywhere. It is a full house of phones, TVs, laptops, and cameras all running at once without anyone shouting to get off the internet.

MCSnet is built to carry all of it. Check what reaches your address and we will show you the speeds available where you live, then help you match them to how your household actually uses the internet.

A Tight-Knit Village on the Water

The Summer Village of Birch Cove sits on Lac La Nonne between Highway 33 and the lakeshore, about 99 kilometres northwest of Edmonton in Lac Ste. Anne County. It is a small place by design: population 67 at the 2021 Census, up nearly 49 percent from 45 in 2016, spread across just 0.29 square kilometres. Birch Cove was established as a summer village municipality in 1988 and is led today by Mayor Dean Preston.

Cabin life here runs on docks, boat launches, and quiet lake mornings, and increasingly on internet fast enough to work from the water.

Fiber Is Coming to Birch Cove

Birch Cove is a named community in MCSnet’s current federally supported fiber expansion, the same 3,401-household build reaching Nakamun Park, Lac La Nonne, and Thunder Lake, with construction scheduled to complete by March 2027. As Mayor Preston puts it, reliable internet has shifted from a luxury to an essential utility, and this project strengthens the village’s ability to stay connected and get critical information to residents.

Until fiber lights up, MCSnet fixed wireless keeps the village connected today. Follow the build here.
