What a Good Connection Actually Gets You

Dependable internet is not a luxury anymore. It is family movie night streaming without the spinning wheel, the kids gaming with friends two provinces over, a video call to a child working away, and a rural business reaching customers anywhere. It is a full house of phones, TVs, laptops, and cameras all running at once without anyone shouting to get off the internet.

MCSnet is built to carry all of it. Check what reaches your address and we will show you the speeds available where you live, then help you match them to how your household actually uses the internet.

A Quality Community with a Quality Lifestyle

Barrhead sits on the Paddle River about 120 kilometres northwest of Edmonton on Highway 33, home to roughly 4,320 people at the 2021 Census, with a more recent regional estimate putting the number closer to 4,768. Founded in 1906 and incorporated as a town in 1946, Barrhead is led today by Mayor Ty Assaf under the town motto “A quality community with a quality lifestyle,” and keeps sister-city ties with Drouin, Australia, Tokoro, Japan, and Chapala, Mexico.

The Great Blue Heron is Barrhead’s official town bird, which is why the summer Blue Heron Fair carries its name, and the town’s community mosaic mural, built from hundreds of hand-painted tiles, takes the heron’s shape too.

Built for How Barrhead Lives

Barrhead’s Agrena multiplex covers indoor and outdoor ice rinks, an indoor walking track, event rooms, a physiotherapy clinic, and a fitness centre, and the town’s junior hockey club has played in the Western States Hockey League since the 2019-20 season. Add the newly built Aquatic Centre, a curling rink, the nine-hole Paddle River Golf Club in town and the 18-hole Barrhead Golf Club five minutes outside it, a bowling alley, splash park, tennis courts, skateboard park, and movie theatre, and there is a lot of town to keep connected.

Pollard Banknote’s Barrhead facility, producing scratch lottery tickets and bingo supplies, is one of the town’s larger employers alongside its oil and gas, forestry, and agricultural base. Students move from Ecole Barrhead Elementary through Barrhead Composite High School, national “Reach for the Top” champions back in 1973.

Free Public Wi-Fi, On Us

MCSnet provides free public Wi-Fi at the places where Barrhead gathers: the Barrhead Arena, Legion Branch 75, the County Airport Terminal, and the Barrhead Art Club. It is part of how we give back to the communities we connect, and you can see the full list on our hotspot partnerships page.
