About Thorhild & District Ag Society

The Thorhild & District Agricultural Society runs the agriplex in the Hamlet of Thorhild, at the junction of Highway 18 and Highway 827 about 86 kilometres northeast of Edmonton. The volunteer-run facility is the community hub for minor and senior hockey, dance clubs, 4-H events, cattle shows, school programs, and the other gatherings that fill a small county’s events calendar.

MCSnet provides complimentary internet to the agriplex as part of its Community Connections program, and sponsors a free public Wi-Fi hotspot there so parents in the bleachers, coaches sharing instructional videos, and volunteers running the concession can all get online. It is one of several MCSnet sponsored hotspots in the Thorhild area, alongside the Thorhild Golden Age Drop-In Centre nearby and the ag society halls in Egremont and Radway.

How to Connect

Use these steps to connect at Thorhild & District Ag Society. The network name and password are the same at every MCSnet sponsored hotspot.

  1. Open Wi-Fi settings on your phone, tablet, or laptop.
  2. Choose the network named MCSNET FREE.
  3. Enter the password freewifi (all lowercase, no spaces).
  4. You are online. There is no sign-in page and nothing to register.

No MCSnet home internet subscription is needed. Access to the building follows the venue’s opening hours and visitor policies.

Can’t see the network? Check that Wi-Fi is turned on and ask venue staff where the hotspot is available.

Why Free Wi-Fi Here Matters

The agriplex is where Thorhild gathers through the winter, and a free connection reaches everyone in the building: parents waiting through a practice can keep working, coaches can share instructional videos with players, and families can stay in touch with relatives watching from a distance.

MCSnet sponsors this hotspot as part of its community partnership program across rural Alberta. See every free Wi-Fi hotspot in Thorhild, the full hotspot directory, or read about internet across Thorhild County.
