About Marwayne Curling Club

The Marwayne Curling Club runs men’s and ladies’ leagues and hosts bonspiels through the winter, keeping the ice busy several nights a week. It is part of the wider Marwayne Agricultural Society, which also oversees the hockey arena, community hall, and rodeo grounds just down the street, and the club prides itself on being a welcoming, grassroots place to learn the game rather than a high-pressure competitive rink.

MCSnet sponsors the internet connection at the curling club, so league members and spectators can get online during draws and bonspiels without relying on cell coverage alone. The club’s other MCSnet hotspot in the village is at the Ag Society arena, and both share the same network name and password, so a device that connects at one location reconnects automatically at the other.

Where: 209 2nd Avenue South, Marwayne, Alberta.

How to Connect

Use these steps to connect at Marwayne Curling Club. The network name and password are the same at every MCSnet sponsored hotspot.

  1. Open Wi-Fi settings on your phone, tablet, or laptop.
  2. Choose the network named MCSNET FREE.
  3. Enter the password freewifi (all lowercase, no spaces).
  4. You are online. There is no sign-in page and nothing to register.

No MCSnet home internet subscription is needed. Access to the building follows the venue’s opening hours and visitor policies.

Can’t see the network? Check that Wi-Fi is turned on and ask venue staff where the hotspot is available.

Why Free Wi-Fi Here Matters

League nights can run late and pack the club with curlers and spectators at once, and rural cell coverage does not always keep up. A free, encrypted Wi-Fi connection at the curling club means members can check scores, coordinate carpools, and stay in touch without stepping outside for a signal.

MCSnet sponsors this hotspot as part of its community partnership program across rural Alberta. Browse the full hotspot directory, or read about internet across County of Vermilion River.
