About Lamont Ag Society

The Lamont & District Agricultural Society has served the area for more than a century, running the Conrad Schinkinger Memorial Grounds a short drive southwest of town, out past the junction of Highway 15 and Highway 831. The grounds hold a riding arena and a demolition derby park, both with stands, along with two large pole barns and a concession, and the society takes rental enquiries case by case. The society’s two biggest events are the Bullarama Supreme in May and the Summer Sizzler Rodeo in July, when bull riders, barrel racers, and a parade bring the grounds to life for a weekend.

MCSnet sponsors a free public Wi-Fi hotspot at the Ag Society grounds, so volunteers running an event, vendors, and spectators in the stands can get online without relying on cell signal out past the edge of town. It is one of two open MCSnet hotspots in Lamont along with the Lamont Arena, and both use the same network name and password.

Why Free Wi-Fi Here Matters

Grounds like this sit outside town where cell coverage thins out, and they fill up fast during rodeo and derby weekends. A free, encrypted Wi-Fi connection means event organizers, vendors, and families in the stands can stay online without burning through their own data.

MCSnet sponsors this hotspot as part of its community partnership program across rural Alberta. See every free Wi-Fi hotspot in Lamont, the full hotspot directory, or read about home internet in Lamont.
