About Kitscoty District Ag Society Arena

Kitscoty has earned a reputation as the biggest little sports centre in Alberta, and its arena is where a lot of that reputation is made. The Kitscoty Arena Board runs the rink on land owned by the Village of Kitscoty and a building owned by the Ag Society, working alongside minor hockey, the skating club, and the local schools to keep the ice full from fall through spring.

MCSnet sponsors the internet connection at the arena, so families in the stands, visiting teams, and event organizers can get online on a solid connection instead of relying on cell coverage alone. Kitscoty is also home to Royal Canadian Legion Branch 158, which sponsors its own MCSnet hotspot a few blocks away, so a device that connects at the arena will reconnect automatically at the Legion too.

How to Connect

Use these steps to connect at Kitscoty District Ag Society Arena. The network name and password are the same at every MCSnet sponsored hotspot.

  1. Open Wi-Fi settings on your phone, tablet, or laptop.
  2. Choose the network named MCSNET FREE.
  3. Enter the password freewifi (all lowercase, no spaces).
  4. You are online. There is no sign-in page and nothing to register.

No MCSnet home internet subscription is needed. Access to the building follows the venue’s opening hours and visitor policies.

Can’t see the network? Check that Wi-Fi is turned on and ask venue staff where the hotspot is available.

Why Free Wi-Fi Here Matters

A busy rink means a lot of people packed into one building at once, and cell towers can get overloaded during a full tournament weekend even where coverage is otherwise decent. A free Wi-Fi connection at the arena gives players, coaches, and spectators a reliable way to stay online without competing for cellular bandwidth.

MCSnet sponsors this hotspot as part of its community partnership program across rural Alberta. Browse the full hotspot directory, or read about internet across County of Vermilion River.
