About Irma Arena

The Irma Arena is the village’s indoor rink, one of the three recreation facilities the Village of Irma lists on its own site alongside a curling rink and a golf course. It is where hockey and skating fill the winter, and the building takes on community events outside the skating season, drawing families from Irma and the surrounding farms in the MD of Wainwright.

MCSnet sponsors the internet connection at the arena, so parents in the stands, skaters between sessions, and organizers running an event can all get online without relying on cell signal inside the rink. It is one of three MCSnet hotspots in Irma, alongside the Irma Curling Club and the Irma Horizon Senior Centre, all sharing the same network name and password.

How to Connect

Use these steps to connect at Irma Arena. The network name and password are the same at every MCSnet sponsored hotspot.

  1. Open Wi-Fi settings on your phone, tablet, or laptop.
  2. Choose the network named MCSNET FREE.
  3. Enter the password freewifi (all lowercase, no spaces).
  4. You are online. There is no sign-in page and nothing to register.

No MCSnet home internet subscription is needed. Access to the building follows the venue’s opening hours and visitor policies.

Can’t see the network? Check that Wi-Fi is turned on and ask venue staff where the hotspot is available.

Why Free Wi-Fi Here Matters

Cell coverage inside an arena is unreliable at the best of times, and a lot of Irma hockey and skating families drive in from farms across the MD of Wainwright where mobile data is thin. A free, encrypted Wi-Fi connection at the arena means nobody has to choose between watching the game and staying reachable.

MCSnet sponsors this hotspot as part of its community partnership program across rural Alberta. See every free Wi-Fi hotspot in Irma, the full hotspot directory, or read about internet across MD of Wainwright.
