The Hardisty Ag Society’s arena, known locally as the Gibson Energy Centre, is a single-pad ice rink in the heart of town that runs from October to the end of March each year. Between minor hockey rentals, CanSkate and figure skating, shinny, public skates, and fun league games, the rink stays busy most evenings and weekends, and the adjacent curling rink puts three sheets in use all winter long.
MCSnet sponsors the internet connection at the arena, so parents in the stands, skaters between sessions, and anyone renting the ice can get online without relying on a cell signal inside a busy rink. The Ag Society also runs Hardisty Lake Park and Campground, which has its own MCSnet sponsored hotspot, so the free Wi-Fi covers both facilities the society manages.
Use these steps to connect at Hardisty Ag Society Arena. The network name and password are the same at every MCSnet sponsored hotspot.
No MCSnet home internet subscription is needed. Access to the building follows the venue’s opening hours and visitor policies.
Can’t see the network? Check that Wi-Fi is turned on and ask venue staff where the hotspot is available.
Arenas are notoriously hard on cell reception, between the building itself and the crowd of parents, players, and volunteers all trying to connect at once. A free, encrypted Wi-Fi connection at the Gibson Energy Centre means nobody has to step outside between periods to check a message or confirm a pickup time.
MCSnet sponsors this hotspot as part of its community partnership program across rural Alberta. See every free Wi-Fi hotspot in Hardisty, the full hotspot directory, or read about home internet in Hardisty.
