Derwent is a small hamlet on Highway 45 in the County of Two Hills, about 41 kilometres north of Vermilion, a farming community that has shrunk since its grain elevator closed and its rail line was pulled up but has kept its arena and ag society hall running as the places where the hamlet still gathers.
