About Stoney Lake Campground

Stoney Lake Campground sits in a forested spot on the north shore of Stoney Lake, about twenty minutes southeast of the Town of St. Paul, and is one of four campgrounds the County runs each camping season. The site has powered stalls, a 24-hour park attendant, a swimming area and playground, a gazebo on the beach, and a boat launch for campers heading out after the lake’s Pike and Perch.

MCSnet sponsors a free public Wi-Fi hotspot at the campground, so campers and day visitors can stay connected without leaning on cell signal, which can be unreliable this far from the highway. It is one of four MCSnet hotspots at County of St. Paul campgrounds, alongside Floating Stone, Lac Bellevue, and Westcove, and all four use the same network name and password.

How to Connect

Use these steps to connect at Stoney Lake Campground. The network name and password are the same at every MCSnet sponsored hotspot.

  1. Open Wi-Fi settings on your phone, tablet, or laptop.
  2. Choose the network named MCSNET FREE.
  3. Enter the password freewifi (all lowercase, no spaces).
  4. You are online. There is no sign-in page and nothing to register.

No MCSnet home internet subscription is needed. Access to the building follows the venue’s opening hours and visitor policies.

Can’t see the network? Check that Wi-Fi is turned on and ask venue staff where the hotspot is available.

Why Free Wi-Fi Here Matters

A forested lake campground is exactly the kind of place where cell coverage falls off, even for visitors used to good service at home. A free, encrypted Wi-Fi connection at the campground means campers can check the weather, coordinate with the rest of their group, or just stay reachable.

MCSnet sponsors this hotspot as part of its community partnership program across rural Alberta. See every free Wi-Fi hotspot in County of St. Paul, the full hotspot directory, or read about internet across County of St. Paul.
