About Barrhead Legion Branch 75

Royal Canadian Legion Branch 75 is Barrhead’s veterans’ hall, on 51 Street a couple of blocks off the main street. The branch is the registered home of the Barrhead poppy fund, the campaign that puts poppies on lapels across town each fall and turns the money raised back into support for veterans and their families. Like legion branches across the province, the hall is used by more than its own membership, and it has been a fixture of the town for generations.

The Legion is also the parade hall for 526 Barrhead Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets, who meet in the building on Wednesday evenings through the training year. MCSnet sponsors the free Wi-Fi connection at the Legion, so members, cadets, and anyone else in the building can get online during an event without relying on cell service. It’s one of five MCSnet sponsored hotspots in Barrhead, alongside the Barrhead Arena, the Barrhead Art Club, the Paddle River Golf and Country Club, and the Barrhead Johnson Airport. Whether you’re at the hall for a meeting, a cadet night, or a community event, the connection is there for the whole room, not just Legion members.

Why Free Wi-Fi Here Matters

A legion hall is one of the few big indoor rooms a small town has, and it gets used for the kind of gatherings that bring people in from well outside Barrhead. A reliable Wi-Fi connection lets whoever is running the event, and whoever’s checking in from out of town, stay connected without hunting for a signal.

MCSnet sponsors this hotspot as part of its community partnership program across rural Alberta. See every free Wi-Fi hotspot in Barrhead, the full hotspot directory, or read about home internet in Barrhead.
