The Athabasca Heritage Society is a volunteer group working to preserve the town’s historic buildings and its riverfront. For years the society has led the restoration of Athabasca’s historic CNoR train station on the river, and the building hosts the local visitor information centre through the summer months. The society also publishes a walking tour guide to the town’s historic buildings and landmarks, including the Alice B. Donahue Library.
