About Andrew Arena

The Andrew Arena is the village’s ice rink, home to minor hockey and public skating through the winter months and open for tournaments, practices, and community events year round. Andrew is a village of Ukrainian heritage on Highway 855 northeast of Edmonton, and the arena sits alongside the Andrew Community Centre as one of the two big gathering spaces that keep the village busy outside of Main Street.

MCSnet sponsors a free public Wi-Fi hotspot at the arena, so parents watching from the bleachers, players between periods, and volunteers running the concession or the scoreboard can get online without burning through cell data. It is one of three MCSnet hotspots in Andrew, alongside the Andrew Community Centre and the Andrew Lions Club on Main Street, and all three use the same network name and password.

Where: 5013 51 Avenue, Andrew, Alberta.

How to Connect

Use these steps to connect at Andrew Arena. The network name and password are the same at every MCSnet sponsored hotspot.

  1. Open Wi-Fi settings on your phone, tablet, or laptop.
  2. Choose the network named MCSNET FREE.
  3. Enter the password freewifi (all lowercase, no spaces).
  4. You are online. There is no sign-in page and nothing to register.

No MCSnet home internet subscription is needed. Access to the building follows the venue’s opening hours and visitor policies.

Why Free Wi-Fi Here Matters

Rinks like Andrew’s sit at the edge of town where cell coverage can be thin, and they fill up fast on game nights. A free, encrypted Wi-Fi connection lets coaches share schedules, parents keep working between periods, and out-of-town visitors find their way around without relying on a weak signal.

MCSnet sponsors this hotspot as part of its community partnership program across rural Alberta. See every free Wi-Fi hotspot in Andrew, the full hotspot directory, or read about home internet in Andrew.
